Support Overseas Troops With Expired Coupons

couponsfortroopsIn a comment on my post about trashing old coupons a reader sent me this link. It is to a blog post about a program that helps overseas military families by sending them expired coupons.

The prices in overseas commissaries are significantly higher than those in the States and military families do not always have access to coupons in newspapers and inserts. Military commissaries overseas accept coupons up to six months past the expiration date.

The nice lady that runs the blog and the program is a military wife who spent time overseas and is now trying to help others. If you are interested go read her post, there is an email address at the end where you can request a family to send your expired coupons to.  I am so excited I now have something to do with all my expired coupons!

Thanks! I sent this to a friend in FL and she is so excited to do this! Keep spreading the word—–our troops' families deserve help besides our gratitude!

I used to teach school and my class would bring coupons and we sent them to a base in Japan. It was a great activity for my students since they had to sort them and add them up. I think it would be a great activity to do with your children at home as well!
