Walgreens Deals of the week of 4-26 through 5-2, 2009

26 April 2009 500 views View Comments

walgreenslogoYou might have heard, the EasySaver program is officially over at Walgreens as of May 1, 2009.  Hang in there…Walgreens has promised they will be changing their current programs and offering potentially better Register Reward deals.

What does this mean for you…?

There won’t be any more free after rebate items or Easysaver coupons to use.  However, you will notice an increase in the number of Register Rewards deals and just this week there are (3) free after register rewards items.

Regardless, this is a great week at Walgreens with a few moneymaker deals to be had.

[Thanks to Money Saving Mom and Mercedes for putting these together]

WALGREENS

Transaction #1

Note: Consider adding two Ecotrins to your order.  This is just in case you usually have problems at your store with coupons beeping because the value of the coupon is higher than the value of the item.  However, as you can read in this article Learn How “To Do Walgreens”.  Because the value of both Ecotrins is $4, the $2.25/1 coupon won’t beep even when you are adding a $1/1 Ecotrin coupon because the total value of the items ($4) is less than the value of the coupons ($3.25).

$14.99 bayer breeze
$4 two ecotrin
-$14.99 bayer coupon
-$2.25 ecotrin printable
-$1 ecotrin coupon from 1/25 SS insert

=$0.26 plus tax out of pocket and get $4.99 RR from Nivea and $2.49RR from Bayer

Now if you feel like going back home with items instead the $7.48 in Register Rewards you could buy:

$6 two Starbucks pints of ice cream
$1.18 two Campbells Soups
$3 Two Flipz

When buying the Ecotrin, do not buy 2 Ecotrin together, you have to do them separately or you will only receive 1 RR, it is a limit of 1 per transaction on all the RR products. Also remember not to pay for a product with an RR of the same product…..as in, don't buy the Ecotrin, get the RR from it and then purchase another Ecotrin and pay for it with that RR…..you won't earn another RR from the second Ecotrin.

I went to WAGS today and a couple Ecotrin Qs to use. I had used a couple on Tuesday and they worked just fine, they keyed them to $2. Today, they refused to take the Qs for the product because the Ecotrin was $2 and the Q was for $2.25. I asked them to just key down the Q to $2 and the assist. mgr said no, they had got a letter from corporate saying that manufactors were not accepting the Qs if they were written on as being keyed down. I asked why the couldn't just key it down and not write on the Q and turn them in and they said no. That would not be dishonest, clearly the Ecotrin people had already “budgeted” if you will, the $2.25 to pay for the Q. I am really not understanding the problem here but just wanted to pass it on. I also told them I had done this earlier in the week with no problem and they said “well,no more”. This is at the Oak Ridge Wags and I was going to Knoxville today and planned to check it out in Knoxville (because, as we know, WAGS is not consistent…..what you can get with a Q at one store, you cannot do at the WAGS on the other end of town), but I ran out of time and couldn't get to another WAGS. I ended up not buying the Ecotrin, by the way. I didn't get mad or say anything except thanks for the heads up, they know me well in there and I wasn't about to make anyone mad over Ecotrin, they always bend over backwards to help me.
